Just for fun....

Network world put together a fanboy field guide to help you identify what type of fanboy you are dealing with.

The ones listed:
Apple/Mac, PC, Linux, Blackberry & android.

I hadn't heard of the blackberry fanboy before, but after reading, I definitely know some of them!

Another interesting site: fiverr.com. a site where people post 'gigs' they are willing to do for $5.  Some seem useful -- there are people who will edit resumes or presentations, create logos, photo shop pictures... cool/semi-useful stuff like that.  But some of the others -- there are a ton of gigs where people will send you a postcard.  Who pays $5 to get a postcard from someone they don't know??

more Facebook phishing

lately, I have seen notifications for a facebook group called 'See Who's Spying on Your Profile' and another called 'See Everyone who Views Your Profile'.  The idea here is that you presumably want to know who is looking at your profile.  I am not completely clear on whether these are friends/network connections or completely random people who are looking at your profile.

Sophos blogger Beth Jones looked into these two apps to see what was going on.  She found that both work a bit like a pyramid scheme:  for the first,  (you have to suggest 50! of your friends before you get to the supposed good stuff), after this you have to take a marketing quiz and finally, you have to give the application your username and password for facebook.  The second wants ou to install a toolbar, but it also needs your facebook username and password so it can nmonitor your profile.

When I checked today, I could not find the 'See Everyone..' group anymore.  But there were two 'See who's spying..' groups - one had over 100,000 fans. who are these people who are willing to hand over their account credentials??
